Doniford Bay

Doniford Bay is a small village with a very rocky beach. We stay there and enjoy the lovely view of the Bristol Channel, Barry Island on the opposite shore and we can see Watchet and Minehead in the distance.

Watchet Harbour

Watercolour

This is the old Coastguard building overlooking Watchet Harbour. It isn’t actually on a slant but somehow the picture came out like this.

Watercolour

I painted this sitting outside (it was cold) by the sandpit in the campsite. I realised as I sat at the top of the cliff looking over that the fence was actually the subject of the painting, which if I had just taken a photograph.

Porlock Weir

Watercolour

A random photo taken at Porlock Weir. as any will know who visit, there is often very little water around and the boats are often high and dry.

Watchet Marina

Watercolour

This little fishing boat was also high and dry in Watchet marina (as most vessels seem to be most of the time) but proved an interesting subject to paint. The marina is not the harbour itself but leads into the harbour.

Watchet Marina Shop

Watercolour

This original chandlery has an upstairs emporium of amazing stuff, a mixture of second hand and new bric-a-brac. Worth exploring.

Oil

I started this painting ages ago as a return to using oil paints and gave it up for months as a bad job, however, persevered and now feel that it has a little merit.
